BETT Live TV Day 1 BETT 2018

The first day at BETT began with an invitation to appear on live TV for the BETT show which is being streamed on social media. I turned up to the studio on the floor of the exhibition and was duly fitted with  a microphone and I was asked to meet the two presenters who would chair the interview.

In fact I was the first interviewee for the show! Bett interview 2018.JPG

The interview was about the innovative "Digital Wall" I am working with. It was invented and bought to market by https://www.nureva.com/

Here is the link to the interview

Hope that you enjoy watching.

BETT 2018 is Here!

Wow! It is BETT 2018 already. I really can't keep pace with the speed that the months seem to fly by.

On the train once more heading toward London for the one and only Ed Tech show at the ExCel centre. Now with the BETT content team's changes to the way presentations are chosen I will not be formally presenting this year. This is because the vast majority of presentations are sponsored by large Ed Tech companies. There are also only about a third of the number of presentations. We will have to see how it all works as this is a dramatic shift for BETT.

For my part I have been working on the innovative Nureva Span "Digital Wall" system so I will be based around their stand C160. So If you want to meet up I will be there during the day. I also have many 1-1 meetings with companies and colleagues. This is what makes the world of Ed Tech go around!

I've got more 1-1 meetings this year to catch up with companies and colleagues old and new. I can't wait. BETT is here!!!

Here is where I will be.

The main thrust of my presentation will be outlining the essential Ed Tech. ingredients which together can bring about whole school improvement. The exemplar school is Pheasey Park Farm which moved from Requires Improvement ( R.I.) to Good according to their OFSTED inspection.

The journey that the school has made over the past 3 years exemplifies how Ed. Tech. can be used as a catalyst to bring about school improvement.

BETT Day 2

Dear Blog readers, sorry for the retrospective view of Day 2 at BETT but it was a rather hectic start to the day with an early interview for BETT TV with Dave Smith from Havering LA. The day continued with a series of press interviews and the launch of the BESA and NAACE leadership briefing paper.

Leadership paper.PNG

BESA NAACE Leadership Briefing Paper Jan 2016 Final.pdf

This is something that Dave and I have been working on for over 6 months now and it takes the BESA annaual survey data from schools and flips the purpose and makes the data avaialble with key questions for school leaders and governors.

It can be used as an audit tool when making strategic decisions about technology purchases.

The reason that it attracted so much interest is that it was specifically mentioned in the Secretary of State for Education's speech on Wednesday.

I also had a very interesting meeting Nancy Knowlton one of the Founders of SMART Technologies who is at BETT launching a new venture inder the Nureva brand. It is a fantastic "Digital Wall" concept for getting groups of students together to collaborate and generate ideas. Please take a look here.
